Sometimes we all need a guide- an experienced helper- to lead us through difficult periods of transition in our lives. I want to be that helper for you. I will assist you in making the changes that will help you get you back on your path with new tools, new insights, and a new understanding of your relationship with the world around you. Whether you’re healing from PTSD, mood disorders, relationship problems, sexuality concerns or other mental health issues, I will work in a collaborative relationship with you to help find the improvements you seek.
I work with people who are committed to their whole well being. I know this means that the emotional, mental and physical aspects of our lives must all be in healthy balance.
]When I started practicing in 1998, I began with a primary focus on attachment and bonding in early childhood and the ways those factors impact our adult relationships. In more recent years I have added the specialization of treating the impact of trauma with the evidenced based EMDR approach. EMDR is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. It is a terrific tool that allows for resolution of issues in a much shorter period of time than most other modalities.
My background includes work with all ages in the school setting, in psychiatric hospitals, a community mental health clinic, family preservation and guidance, private practice, and in-home family counseling. Currently I provide counseling to individuals, couples, families and in small groups.
