I believe you are capable of living the life you desire.
I believe you have precious value.
I believe joy is ALWAYS possible.
I believe “negative” emotions are ok and are part of life.
I believe in second/ third, etc etc chances.
I believe who you are is enough.
I believe there are other choices if you are willing to see them.
I believe that happiness is inside of you right now and not when you lose the 5 pounds, get the perfect job, or find the love of your life.
The bottom line is: I believe in your power to create the life you want and that life was meant to feel good.

Bet you didn’t know…

My favorite self-help book? Whoa – that’s a hard question! I have an insatiable appetite for self-help books as is evidenced by my bookshelves, which are overflowing with them. I have a special shelf for my favorites that I regularly recommend to people. But, if I had to name the one that has been most meaningful in my own life, it would be “A Woman’s Worth” by Marianne Williamson. I found this gem in my 20s and again in my 40s, and the entire book resonates with me. I hear a new truth every time I enter the pages.

The thing that always makes me smile? My daughter’s laugh… for many reasons. I come from a long line of southern women who taught me what it means to be a “lady”. One of the requirements shared through the years was “a lady’s laugh should sound like a babbling brook”. My laugh sounds more like the roaring ocean, but my daughter’s is the sweetest sound I know. It makes me smile to hear it, because it’s hers, and because it helps me remember all the beautiful women before us.

How do I de-stress? I garden. There is something magical for me in tending to the soil and watching your plants grow and mature. I often have too many thoughts ping-ponging in my head, but the second my hands hit dirt….all is quiet for a while. It is a sacred space for me.

My favorite quote? “Ever since happiness heard your name, it has been running through the streets trying find you.” ~Hafez I love ancient poetry. It’s an interesting fit for me and I have only discovered it in the last few years. Hafez knew something a very long time before Positive Psychology ever entered the scene. I love how many many years ago, in a land far far away, people were writing about truths that still hold to this day.

My anthem song? “Lean Into It” by Little Big Town. That’s my hands-down answer. While I have a zillion songs I love (check out some of them on my favorites page) and that I turn up the music and sing along to at the top of my lungs… (when no one can hear me), this song stops me in my tracks. There was a time when it lived on repeat on my iPod and soothed me in ways only music can.
