Everyone faces challenges in their lives at some point, and I believe that we all have the ability to adapt and rise to the occasion. Sometimes we just need some assistance to see that light on the horizon.
My training in behavioral health began in the 1980’s and culminated in two Master’s degrees, the most recent in 2005. I have worked in the field of developmental disabilities for over twenty years and have been in private practice as a Professional Counselor since 2006.
I have lived in Bluffton for over 15 years, with my husband Mike and my dog Lacey. I find that time for relaxation and “me“ time can do wonders for the body and soul. My favorite ways to do that include biking, paddling my kayak about our beautiful waterways, attending a yoga class, or spending time at the beach with a good book. I am also a huge music fan, and can often be found rocking along to my favorite bands both at concerts and in my car.
I believe that human beings have incredible potential. I also believe that each of us has our own “growing edges”; areas in which we can learn and grow. My experience suggests that people have their own answers as to the direction and pace of that growth and learning. My role, as a therapist, is to help you explore those questions and answers in the way that makes the most sense for you. In this way, we can find our way to the growth and change that meets your goals while honoring your unique perspective. I do this through providing empathy, encouragement and a genuine human connection. Each of these three factors are very well supported as key factors in the research into human growth and change.
