Why take care of “you”
Self care is one of the most important things that we can do for ourselves…so why take care of you?
Did you know…
How do I unwind? One of my favorite things to do is to spend time on the water. Throughout my life, the ocean has always played a healing and cathartic role for me. I find being near the water to be soothing for the mind, body and soul, which is how I like to approach therapy with clients. Treating the whole person and encouraging you to be an active part of your own healing is how I like to work. I find a lot of my inspiration comes from quiet moments of reflection when I am by the water’s edge.
What is my favorite quote? Some years ago, in a previous job, we were all asked to find a quote that we felt was reflective of who we were and what we wanted to accomplish, a personal mission statement. For weeks I searched for inspiration. I turned to my favorite poet Robert Frost, re-read sections of my favorite book, The Great Gatsby, and still nothing seemed to fit. Then I came across a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt, a woman who was such a pioneer and inspiration to so many, and I landed on this……”You must do the thing you think you cannot do”……such a powerful statement and it fits into so many areas of life, from creating new experiences, to accepting change into our lives, and to entering into therapy to help ourselves heal and become the best, healthiest versions of ourselves that we can be.
My approach to therapy... after working as a clinical social worker for over 25 years, I have had the opportunity to work in many different settings with many different types of people. I view therapy as a process that can have a powerful and meaningful impact on your life. Choosing to begin therapy can be one of the most empowering things you can do for yourself. By providing you with a safe, compassionate, non-judgmental environment we will work together to find solutions to whatever challenges you are facing.
I look forward to working with you on your own journey into wellness.
